Poised on the narrow rim
of carbon cycles
stars to sperm
sperm to egg
egg to womb
womb to world
world to stars
a leaving place, placed
between white starched
leaf where we prick his body
with morphine until his blood forgets where
to go, prick his body with morphine until his breath
reeks vanilla extract the doctor
asks us shall we prick
him again?
